EAST HAMPTON— Returning for its fourth year to the East End, SCOPE Hamptons will transform the 25,000 square-foot East Hampton Studios into a world-class art fair and destination-location coinciding with the 15th Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit. SCOPE is a major contributor to the Hamptons most celebrated weekend of art. Centrally located and inches from seasoned and emerging collector's homes, East Hamptons Studio is SCOPE’s home away from home for the New York and international art enthusiast. With over 40 international established and emerging contemporary galleries from over 15 countries, SCOPE will present a full schedule of special events, performances and screenings, alongside museum-quality programming, creating what has become “The Hamptons Weekend of Art.”
SCOPE is proud to present the first Collector Mentorship Auction during SCOPE Hamptons 08. Continuing its "Art Fair as Resource" mandate, this silent auction features seasoned collectors Beth Rudin DeWoody, Melva Bucksbaum, Raymond Learsy, Eileen and Richard Ekstract, Adam Lindemann, Enrique Norten, Jed Walentas, Rick Wester, Dennis Oppenheim, Nancy Seltzer, Terrie Sultan, Kim Levin, Arnold Lehman, Rob Teeters, Richard Stewart, Lowell Pettit, Bob Colacello, John Friedman, Bonnie Clearwater and others donating an hour of their time to mentor less experienced art enthusiasts. Bidding will be young collectors from MoMA, Whitney, The New Museum, The Parrish Museum, Guild Hall, Core Club and Soho House. This unique event, providing networking opportunities and educating beginning collectors while promoting philanthropy, will benefit the SCOPEFoundation.

SCOPE is the brainchild of Alexis Hubshman, who drew upon his experience as
an artist and gallerist to start SCOPE in 2002 in a New York hotel. As the first art
fair to bring emerging galleries Peres Projects, Daniel Reich, John Connelly
Presents, Taxter & Spengemann and Marella to a wider audience, SCOPE has
given many now-prominent emerging artists like Assume Astro Vivid Focus,
Scissor Sisters and Black Label their first significant international exposure.
The fair has evolved from an industry niche to an influential global contributor, with
ongoing events, educational programs, and the SCOPE Foundation 501(c) 3. With total
sales of nearly $100 million, over 250,000 visitors, and wide media attention, SCOPE
has helped build a flourishing collector base in the contemporary art market.
